The liquid to be filtered is fed, via a centrifugal pump and a metering pump dispensing a measured quantity of diatomaceous earth slurry, into the filtration tank through the piping system. Through the filtration action of the diatomaceous earth or other filter aids on the filter discs, most larger microorganisms (such as yeast), solid particles and impurities are separated out, and the filtered clear liquid is discharged.
